Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (9/16/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-1-2) looked for a bounce-back performance as the Griffins welcomed the University of Valley Forge (2-3) to the Athletic Complex. Just 1:45 into the contest a beautiful tic tac toe pass from freshman defenseman Paige Fienman (Philadelphia, Pa.) to sophomore forward Demmi Fox (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) to junior forward Natalie Morris (Boyertown, Pa.) gave the Griffins an early 1-0 lead over the Patriots. Fienman's assist was the first of her collegiate career and also her first point in a Griffins' Uniform. Gwynedd Mercy would go on to control the rest of play and secure a 6-0 victory.  

Griffin Highlights:  

• Also joining Fienman in recording their first career collegiate points were freshman defenseman Casey Thomas (Philadelphia, Pa.) and freshman defenseman Breana Salvatore (Sicklerville, N.J.). Thomas scored her first career goal with just under two minutes left in the contest (88:04) as she was fed a beautiful ball from Salvatore recording her first assist.  
• Freshman midfielder Samantha Winco (Chalfont, Pa.) had a career day as Winco finished with a season-high six shots and finished with her first career multi-goal game (2).  
• Fox finished with a game-high nine shots while recording an assist and a goal at 67:37.  
• Gwynedd Mercy outshot Valley Forge 53-2.  
• Sophomore goalkeeper Miranda Abrams (Philadelphia, Pa.) started in net for the red and gold for the first time in the 2024 season earning the win (1-0).  

Gwynedd Mercy University hosts Penn State Abington on Wednesday, September 18 for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
