Aston, Pa. - (4/20/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (0-13, 0-5) visited Neumann University (8-8, 3-3) for the penultimate game of their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) and regular season schedules. The Knights established a 11-1 advantage by halftime, but the Griffins gave them a little more trouble in the second half as the final deficit stood at 11 goals; 18-7. Senior attack Caroline Cleary (Chalfont, Pa.) headlined the Red and Gold effort with five points (3 goals, 2 assists), four ground balls, four draw controls, and a caused turnover.

Griffin Highlights

• Gwynedd Mercy University was 14-of-20 (.700) on the clear. They won 13 draw controls and recovered 17 ground balls.
• Cleary and Varilla were each 1-for-1 (1.000) on their free position attempts. The Griffins finished 2-for-5 (.400).
• Varilla added a draw control and a ground ball to her two scores.
• Junior midfielders, Cheynne Avellino (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) and Alysia Collins (Royersford, Pa.) scored the other two Red and Gold goals. The former also recorded two ground balls and a caused turnover, while the latter totaled two ground balls and a draw control.
• Freshman goalkeepers, Nikki Williams (Cinnaminson, N.J.) (55:24) and Victoria Sloan (Philadelphia, Pa.) (4:36) both saw time net. Williams (0-5) made a season-high 12 saves and picked up two ground balls.
