Field Hockey Plays Penultimate AEC Game at Marywood University

Scranton, Pa. - (10/26/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-13, 1-2) visited Marywood University (12-5, 4-0) for the penultimate game of their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) season. There, the Griffins cut into an early 2-0 Pacer lead with a goal from senior defender Laura Filchner (Bath, Pa.) at 36:43 (2-1) and looked to rally with a late score from junior midfielder Mackenzie Reed (Philadelphia, Pa.) at 50:49 (3-2). Unfortunately, the Red and Gold were denied their comeback as Marywood University added an insurance tally (4-2, 52:48) before the 4-2 finish.

Griffin Highlights
  • Gwynedd Mercy University totaled eight shots and were awarded three penalty corners.
  • Reed recorded a team-high six shots and put three of them on goal. Meanwhile, Filchner took only two shots and took them in tandem to score her tally.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Weaver (Flemington, N.J.) totaled five saves in the loss (0-8).
