Mitchell Bramsway (Temecula, Calif.) earned his first win (1-0) in the young season pitching 3.2 innings with six strikeouts and only allowing three hits. In game two against the Cobbers, senior infielder
Noah Andress (Levittown, Pa.) went 2-3 at the plate with two hits and the teams only two runs-batted-in (RBI).
Game 1 - Griffin Highlights:
- In the third inning, senior infielder Nick Price (Levittown, Pa.) hit a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed freshman outfielder Chris Nodeland (Hamilton, N.J.) to score and allow the Griffins to tie the game 1-1.
- Senior infielder Jake Martell (Levittown, Pa.) took advantage of a passed ball in the third to cross home plate and put Gwynedd Mercy on top 2-1.
- Tied 2-2 going into the seventh, Martell singled and drove in junior outfielder Frank Ebling (Cherry Hill, N.J.) to take a 3-2 lead.
- Just a few batters later, Price took one for the team and was hit by a pitch, allowing Nodeland to cross home plate (4-2).
- The very next batter graduate infielder Billy Collins (Hatfield, Pa.) hit a sacrifice fly to center field bringing Martell home and giving the Griffins the eventual 5-3 victory.
Game 2 - Griffin Highlights:
- In the first inning, Andress hit a single bringing home Price and Martell and giving Gwynedd Mercy an early 2-0 lead.
Gwynedd Mercy University continues its spring break road trip Monday, March 6, when they play Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for a scheduled 9:00 A.M. first pitch.
