North Myrtle Beach, SC - (3/9/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (7-1) had a tough loss against Delaware Valley University (3-4-1) 5-4, but were able to get back to their winning ways against Clarks Summit University (1-5) 14-10. In game one, junior captain infielder Grace Scally (Philadelphia, Pa.) had a team-high two runs-batted-in (RBI). In game two, multiple Griffins had multi-hit games including Junior pitcher Jocelyn Baumeister (Willlow Grove, Pa.) going 2-4 from the plate and having a team-high three RBI.
Game 1 - Griffin Highlights:

In the third inning, sophomore outfielder Carly Maw (Bensalem, Pa.) was able to cross home plate due to an error from the shortstop and cut the lead in half 2-1.

In the fifth inning, Scally ripped a double to left field allowing freshman catcher Camryn Kinney (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) and junior utility player Shylynn Cordero (Allentown, Pa.) to score, giving the Griffins a 3-2 advantage.

Another error from the shortstop gave Gwynedd Mercy a 4-2 lead as Scally would cross home plate.

Junior Captain pitcher Ashley Focht (Harrisburg, Pa.) would go on to earn the loss putting her record at 2-1 on the year.
Game 2 - Griffin Highlights:

Due to a passed ball and a two-RBI single through the right side from Baumeister the Griffins jumped to an early lead over the Defenders 3-0.

In the second inning, Baumesiter brought in a run with an RBI triple bringing home Carney (5-0).

The next batter Scally kept the good times rolling with a double up the middle bringing home Baumesiter and extending the lead 6-0.

An error in the field in the second and third inning allowed two more Griffins to score, bringing their lead to 8-0.

Another triple in the fifth occurred this time thanks to senior outfielder Emma Carney (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) which allowed Focht and senior infielder Katelyn Barker (Newtown Square, Pa.) to score (11-5).

Cordero took one for the team in the sixth inning by being hit by a pitch allowing Kinney to cross home plate (12-9).
- In the seventh inning, Scally had an RBI triple and freshman shortstop Hannah Smith (Levittown, Pa.) drove in Scally with a sacrifice fly to give Gwynedd Mercy its final runs of the day and the eventual 14-10 victory.
- Focht earned the win (3-1) going four innings while striking out two.
Gwynedd Mercy University Wraps up play at North Myrtle Beach Friday, March 10, when they take on Thiel College (1:00 P.M.) and Alvernia University (5:00 P.M.) with game one being on field six and game two on field four.
