Immaculata, Pa. - (10/28/2023) - Seeking revenge for a 3-2 overtime loss on October 11 and looking to upset #3 Immaculata University (8-10) in today's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Field Hockey First Round contest, #6 Gwynedd Mercy University (2-15) fought to the bitter end of a 1-0 overtime final. The Griffins out-shot the Mighty Macs 8-7 and had eight penalty corner opportunities in a performance that included a team-high five shots from freshman midfielder Hailey Crosby (Afton, N.Y.) and three saves by freshman goalkeeper Nikki Williams (Cinnaminson, Pa.) (2-13).

Griffin Highlights

• Gwynedd Mercy University had four first-quarter penalty corners (2:20, 2:35, 8:22, 8:34), but only managed to get a shot off after the last one as sophomore forward Mackenzie Reed (Philadelphia, Pa.) sent a shot wide of the Immaculata University cage at the nine-minute mark (9:00).
• The Griffins out shot the Mighty Macs 6-3 in the second half. Crosby took the final three in the fourth quarter (51:24, 59:08, 59:17) with the first two requiring saves.
• Williams made one save in the third quarter (38:54) and two in the fourth (56:28, 57:28).

Gwynedd Mercy University finishes the 2023 season with a 2-15 overall record and a 1-5 AEC standing.
