Filchner Scores in Griffin Loss at Cabrini University

Radnor, Pa. - (10/21/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (2-13, 1-5) visited Cabrini University (7-8, 3-3) today for their penultimate Atlantic East Conference (AEC) contest of the season. The Cavaliers scored three goals in each half to overshadow a late tally by junior midfielder Laura Filchner (Bath, Pa.) in a 6-1 (55:25) final; the lone Griffin goal was Filchner's fourth of the season.

Griffin Highlights
  • Freshman forward Hailey Crosby (Afton, N.Y.) led the Gwynedd Mercy University with four of the Griffins 13 shots. She put two on goal, including a late strike (58:53) that was met by a Cabrini University defensive save.
  • Filchner scored on her only shot.
  • The Griffins had nine penalty corners, just one less than the Cavaliers. Seven of Gwynedd Mercy University's penalty corner restarts came in the second half, including four chances in the third quarter.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Nikki Williams (Cinnaminson, N.J.) made nine saves in the loss (2-11).
Gwynedd Mercy University concludes their AEC and regular season schedules on Wednesday, October 25, when they travel to St. Mary's College of Masryland for a 5:00 p.m. contest.
