Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (9/26/2022) - Penn State Brandywine put pressure on Gwynedd Mercy University early, but a stalwart Griffin defense delayed the Nittany Lions until the 66th minute. There, a mid minute score gave the visitors the goal they needed to defeat the Griffins; 1-0 (65:26). Senior goalkeeper John Wagner (Phoenixville, Pa.) (1-8-1) made seven saves behind the united Gwynedd Mercy University defense. Senior forward Evan Kirby (Bensalem, Pa.) and junior defenseman Mike Fienman (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded two shots apiece and senior midfielder Tyler Bascone (Wenonah, N.J.) offered a fifth.

Penn State Brandywine (6-0-2) got the ball in the corner seven times in the first half, but Gwynedd Mercy University (1-8-1) fended off every one of them as well as 11 shots to keep the contest scoreless to halftime. In the second half, Bascone took the Griffins' first shot high in the 50th minute (49:50), Feinman fired the second high in the 54th (53:29), and a Kirby strike was blocked by the Nittany Lion defense in the 59th minute (58:48). Penn State Brandywine finally capitalized on their eventual 21-5 shot advantage with a ball over the goalkeeper in the 66th minute; 1-0 (65:26).
