Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (3/19/2022) - Sophomore Rachel Kressler (Center Valley, Pa.) scored a 6-2, 6-1, win at number four singles to secure Gwynedd Mercy University (1-2) the win over Eastern University (0-2); the final score finished at 6-3 with sophomore Casey Meenan (Perkasie, Pa.) concluding the match with her 4-6, 6-3, 10-6, victory at number one singles.

The Griffins surrendered the point at number the doubles, but made up for it with doubles wins in the second (8-0) and first (8-3) team flights; 2-1. In singles, the score evened (2-2) with Gwynedd Mercy University's default at number six singles, before three consecutive wins secured the Griffins the match. Sophomore Avamarie Backich (Southampton, Pa.) provided the point at number three singles, 6-2, 6-4, sophomore Nicole Rival (Mickleton, N.J.) followed with her 6-2, 6-0, win at number five singles, and Kressler sealed with her number-four singles win. After, the Eagles took number two singles (6-4, 6-3) and Meenan won number one singles.

Gwynedd Mercy University returns to the GMewrcyU Tennis Courts on Monday, March 21, when they host Cairn University for a 4:00 p.m. match.
