Haley Crossley (Warminster, Pa.) recorded her fourth straight double-double - her 11th of the season - to lead Gwynedd Mercy University (11-10, 5-3) to today's 67-53 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) victory over Cabrini University (10-10, 5-3). Crossley scored nine of her 18 points with a perfect afternoon at the free throw line ((9-of-9, 1.000) and she matched her season-high 18 rebounds while also contributing four assists, a block, and two steals to the Griffins' win. Elise Sylvester (Pottstown, Pa.) and sophomore guard
Lynzie Eggers (Turnersville, N.J.) joined Crossley in double figures with 15 and 12 points, respectively. Sylvester additionally provided three rebounds, six assists, and three steals, while Eggers supported her dozen points with four rebounds, an assist, and three steals.
Sylvester controlled the point and helped Gwynedd Mercy University to an early 10-4 (4:09) lead when she found junior forward
Cayla Sharkey (Lansdale, Pa.) for a three-point basket just before the four-minute mark of the first quarter. The Griffins were able to maintain the edge through the end of the frame, but Cabrini University tightened the gap with a 7-0 run in the final minute and a half; 16-15 (0:04). In the second quarter, the Cavaliers remained in Gwynedd Mercy University's back pocket until the final minutes. Alexis Eagan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) (0:52) propelled the Griffins to a 37-25 halftime lead. Gwynedd Mercy University extended their advantage to as many as 17 points (53-36, 0:31) in the closing seconds of the third quarter and never looked back as they closed out the Cabrini University by a 14-point final; 67-53 (0:16).
