Gwynedd Mercy University Honors Seniors Before AEC Clash With Mighty Macs

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – Gwynedd Mercy University welcomed Immaculata University as the Griffins' celebrated their six seniors for senior day. Seniors Evan Kirby (Bensalem, Pa.), Badr Fask (Bristol, Pa.), Ray Ricci (Telford, Pa.), Antonio Catanzariti (Blackwood, N.J.), Tyler Bascone (Wenonah, N.J.), and Kevin Hanuscin (Langhorne, Pa.) were all honored before today's contest. The Mighty Macs were able to strike first at the 11:08 mark (1-0) and would go on to score an additional five goals (26:43, 37:42, 67:26, 68:10, 73:36) giving Immaculata University a 6-0 victory.

Gwynedd Mercy University (1-12-1, 0-2) applied pressure early to Immaculata University (6-4-2, 1-0) when junior defensemen Mert Yildirim (Levittown, Pa) and sophomore midfielder Kasey Wallace (Audubon, N.J.) both recorded shots on goal just over 14 minutes into the game but were unable to find the back of the net. With the Mighty Macs leading the game 3-0 going into the second half the Griffins looked to answer back quickly. With just over 66 minutes gone Kirby had the opportunity with a corner kick. Ricci had a good opportunity from this corner kick to get Gwynedd on the board, but ultimately was denied with Immaculata's goalie making a nice save. The Griffins had one more corner opportunity with just over two minutes remaining. Wallace was able to record a shot on net, but the Mighty Macs goalie stood tall to the task again.

Wallace finished with a team-high four shots and two shots on goal, while junior defensemen Mike Fienman (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished with three shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Shaine Kirby (Newtown, Pa.) finished the match with seven saves and the loss (1-2).

The Griffins continue conference play when they travel to Marywood University on Wednesday, October 12, for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
