SCRANTON, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Women's Tennis Team suffered a 5-2 loss at Marywood in a semifinal match of the 2021 Atlantic East Team Tournament on Thursday.

The best-of-nine playoff format begins with doubles action where the Griffins suffered two tough tiebreaker defeats at #1 and #2. Trailing 3-0 heading into singles play, the Pacers picked up straight-set wins at #4 and #5 singles respectively help ice the outcome.

With the loss, the team says goodbye to its three seniors in Shannon Carroll, Nicolette Diaz, and Sydney Thompson. In two seasons, Carroll has amassed a 13-4 overall career record. Diaz stands at an impressive 49-21 overall mark as she ranks in the top 10 of best doubles win percentage. Thompson boasts a 40-4 record in three seasons played including a conference Rookie of the Year award in 2019.
