Griffin Playoff Run Comes To An End

RADNOR, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy had their season come to a close as the Griffins fell to Cabrini, 23-6, in the semifinal round of the 2021 Atlantic East Women's Lacrosse Tournament Wednesday evening.

was making their first appearance in the conference semifinal round since 2012 which was ironically against the Cavaliers.

For the Griffins, Victoria Mollitor led the offense with three goals. Victoria Braeunle, Laura Pelczar and Anna Bernicker also scored.

Goalie Reilly Owens notched six saves and led the squad with five groundballs and three caused turnovers.

Taylor Dimmerling paced the home team with a game-high five goals. Teammates Dana Carlson and Olivia Little each added four as Cabrini raced out to a 6-0 lead 10 minutes into the contest. Mollitor got the Griffins on the board off an assist from Braeunle, but it would be the only score in the half as Gwynedd had a tough hill to climb the rest of the way.

The loss also closes the books on the team's four seniors; Braeunle, Mollitor, Madison McCue, and Jill Kane. Braeunle leaves the program tied for first all-time in assists (69), second in draws (272), third in points (230, and fourth in goals (1610 in 46 career games. Mollitor joined the Griffins after two successful seasons at Arcadia, where she totaled 125 goals and 139 points in 64 total games. McCue played in over 40 games, moving to defense in her junior season where she tied a career high in caused turnovers this season. Kane, who also was a member of the Griffin Basketball Team, racked up 79 points in three seasons.
