Women's Soccer Returns To Action, Hosts Senior Day

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Women's Soccer Team stepped on the pitch for the first time in over a year to take on Wesley on Saturday, but the Wolverines came away with a 5-0 decision.

Before the game, Emily McCullough, Samantha Cancel, Lauriel Krouse, and Kristina Rycek along with their families were honored by the coaching staff as the team celebrated its Senior Day.

Sophia Ridolfo paced the Wolverines with a game-high three goals. Her first tally came in the 12th minute on a shot from the right side of the box to beat Krouse in goal. It would stay a one-goal contest into the break.

Early in the second, the Griffins were issued a red card on Krouse, forcing the team to play with 10 players. Wesley was able to capitalize, scoring three times in over a nine-minute span.

Krouse finished the day with two saves. Claudia Krouse relieved her sister before Alexis Myers came on to finish the game. Myers was credited with one save.

The team concludes its truncated 2020-21 season and will look to a return to action this Fall with a full slate of contests.
