Kelly Owens (Schwenksville, Pa.) hit 5-of-9 (.556) from long range to keep Gwynedd Mercy University (3-4) in tonight's 71-64 loss at Misericordia University (3-2). The Cougars overcame the Griffins' early 8-2 lead to own a 24-21 first-quarter advantage before a low scoring second quarter left the home team ahead 30-25 at halftime. After intermission, Misericordia University remained at arm's length as they led 50-43 at the end of the third quarter and by as many as 10 points, 55-45 (7:51) in the fourth quarter before the final settled on a seven-point spread.
Gwynedd Mercy University hit a dozen (12-of-37, .324) from long range in all and forced 24 Cougar turnovers, but Misericordia University owned a 67-57 advantage on the glass and made more of their opportunities from the floor (25-of-71, .352) and the free throw line (13-of-20, .650). Owens added two rebounds and two steals to her scoring. She was supported by nine points, four rebounds, an assist, and a steal from sophomore guard
