Radnor, Pa. - (11/1/2021) - Despite a 24-1 deficit in shots and an 8-0 disadvantage in corner kick opportunities, Gwynedd Mercy University (4-11) kept Cabrini University (9-5-3) off the scoreboard until the latter half of tonight's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Opening Round contest. The Cavaliers finally broke the Griffin defenses at 59:52, when graduate defender Maria Hagan (Philadelphia, Pa.) completed a pass from junior defender Rebekah Cunningham (Havertown, Pa.); 1-0. Sophomore forward Avamarie Backich (Southampton, Pa.) recorded Gwynedd Mercy University's only shot of the contest, but it came ten minutes after (85:36) the second Cavalier goal; an unassisted score from junior defender Jamie Falgie (South Sterling, Pa.) midway through the 76th minute (75:33), 2-0. Freshman goalkeeper Molly Flemming (Warminster, Pa.) (4-11) made eight saves in the loss.

Gwynedd Mercy University finished the 2021 season 4-11 overall and 0-6 in AEC competition.
