The Griffins kept the Highlanders close for the opening 45 minutes, spotting the visitors a 1-0 lead just before the 16-minute mark (15:58) and allowing them to capture a 2-0 advantage with a late first-half header from sophomore midfielder Jarek Underation (Lynchburg, Va.) (40:37). After halftime, Cairn University added a pair of insurance tallies around the 63-minute mark (62:36, 63:31), pushing final margin to 4-0.

Senior forward Hugh Lynch (Philadelphia, Pa.) captained Gwynedd Mercy University's offensive effort with three of the Griffins' seven shots. Senior goalkeeper Joe Duffy (Lansdale, Pa.) (0-3) took the loss despite making seven saves.

Gwynedd Mercy University concludes their Atlantic East Conference (AEC) schedule on Saturday, October 23, when they visit Immaculata University for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
