EWING, N.J. -- Gwynedd Mercy suffered a tough 8-7 defeat to the College of New Jersey on Monday as the Lions scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.

The Griffins had fought back from a 6-2 deficit by scoring five runs in the top of the eighth but saw TCNJ cross an unearned run in the bottom half to tie things back up again.

Will Brownlowe turned in a 3-for-5 performance with a career-best three RBI's. Nick Price walked and scored twice while Bobby Heck, Jake Martell, T.J. Brasier and Nate Campbell each drove in a run.

TCNJ led 4-0 before an RBI single from Brownlowe in the fifth got GMercyU on the board. He would rip a two-run double with the bases loaded in that eighth to key their five-run spot.

In the top of the ninth, Billy Collins led off with a walk. Brett Swire came into the game to pinch run and moved to second on a wild pitch. Shaun Thomas then singled to left looking to score Swire, but the throw from Jacob Simon in left field was in time to get the out at home.

The Lions got a lead-off single in the 10th, and would later load the bases with two outs. An error on a grounder in the infield allowed the run to score from third.

Starter Brian Wildrick went seven innings, yielding five earned runs on nine hits with no walks and a strikeout.

Simon was 2-for-4 with three runs and a pair of RBI's for the Lions.

Gwynedd Mercy is back at it on Wednesday when they head to Albright in a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
