CAMDEN, N.J. -- Rutgers-Camden took two from Gwynedd Mercy on Tuesday winning game one, 4-0, and the second, 11-5.
Game One
The Griffins were limited to four hits, two of which came from
Tori Sherwood. A pair of errors led to three unearned runs for starter
Alexis Gartner.
Sarah Byrnes struck out eight Griffins while Alexis Davis drove in two runs. Rutgers-Camden scored twice in the second and twice in the fourth innings.
Game Two
Amanda Clark was 2-for-3 with four RBI's and a homerun while Sherwood,
Emma Carney and
Hannah McLaughlin each tallied two hits. The Griffins totaled 10 hits.
In the first with runners on second and third, Sherwood singled to left to score one run but the throw home was able to get
Brianna Polly who tried to leg it out from second. The Scarlet-Raptors then plated two runs in the bottom half and four more in the second inning to get out to a 6-2 lead.
Clark led off the third with a homer to right center and kept the hot hand the following inning with her big two-out bases-loaded clearing double to get it to a one-run game.
Davis would turn the tide in the bottom half as her three-run double was part of a four-spot in the frame. Gwynedd looked to score in the fifth, getting the sacks full again with two outs, but a grounder to short ended the threat.
Carney also scored twice and walked. Polly was charged with the loss as she threw into the third inning.
