GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy had its three-game win streak come to an end in a 5-1 defeat to Widener Saturday afternoon.
The Pride scored twice in the first half to take a 2-0 lead at the break. The Griffins still battled and finally broke through with a goal from
Raegan Kennedy to cut into the deficit. But Widener halted the Gwynedd momentum scoring seconds after Gwynedd's goal.
The goal was the first for the freshman. Senior
Genny Lombardo was credited with the assist.
Goalie
Emily McCullough recorded five saves including a clutch stop in the second half, pushing a free kick just outside the box over the crossbar.
The team resumes action on Wednesday when they take on Lancaster Bible College starting at 7 p.m.
