GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- A goal early in the second half soured Gwynedd Mercy's season opener as the Griffins fell 1-0 to Mount Saint Mary Friday afternoon.

The Knight's Joe Bacalhau was able to slip a bouncing ball in the box past GMercyU goalie Tyler Blair just 2:03 into the second stanza. That would be all the scoring in the contest.

Blair saw 10 shots from Mount Saint Mary as he made two saves on the day in his first action since 2017 due to injury.

Later in the half, rookie Mike Bernstein had a good look as his one touch in the box was stopped by the Knight's Tyler Rapp to keep the Griffins off the board.

Gwynedd gets right back at in on Sunday when they head up to Doylestown to face Delaware Valley.
