GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Visiting Misericordia defeated Gwynedd Mercy on Monday afternoon, 3-2, to give the Griffins their first loss in their last eight games.
Nick Mulvey had two hits while
Justin Curtin had a hit, a run and two walks.
Jason Mulvey scored and stole a base as the Griffins totaled seven hits and walked four times.
After the Cougars scored an unearned run in the first, the Griffins answered with a RBI sac fly from
Ryan Keen to plate Mulvey. A run scored on a wild pitch in the second and an RBI single in the third put Misericordia up 3-1. GMercyU cut it to one in the seventh on a big two-out RBI single from
Dave Tatoian.
Kyle Melahn come in relief for the Cougars midway in the seventh and frustrated the Griffins, sending them down in order over the final two innings to earn the save. Isaac Snyder was credited with the win, going six innings with four K's, three walks and one run on five hits. Gwynedd's
Brian Wildrick, who threw into the sixth on two earned on six hits, suffered the loss.
Steve Weisensee and Shane Hughes each had three hits for Misericordia.
Gwynedd Mercy is back at it on Wednesday when they head to Brooklyn, New York to face St. Joseph's.
