ARLINGTON, VA. -- Sixth-seeded Gwynedd Mercy fell to third-seeded Marymount, 22-11, in a first-round game of the 2019 Atlantic East Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
A personal milestone was reached in the contest for the Griffins as
Victoria Mollitor registered her 100th career point with a goal late in the second half. Mollitor spent her first two seasons at Arcadia where she totaled 51 points. Today's goal gave her 49 points on the season to hit the century mark.
Jessica Crew netted all of her game-high eight goals in the first half as the Saints raced out to a 5-0 lead and held an 18-8 advantage at the half.
For the Griffins,
Jill Kane and
Victoria Braeunle each had three scores while
Samantha Brown and
Laura Pelczar each added a pair. Brauenle collected six draws, with Kane nabbing a career-best five. The duo registered three groundballs apiece.
The loss marks the end of the season and for the team's lone senior,
Jamie McCarney. In her two seasons as a Griffin, McCarney started all 34 games on defense, totaling 40 groundballs and 17 caused turnovers.
