DOVER, DE. -- Third-seeded Gwynedd Mercy was knocked out of the 2019 Atlantic East Field Hockey Tournament with a 1-0 loss at second-seeded Wesley in a semifinal matchup Wednesday afternoon.
Wesley's Julie Snow scored the game's lone tally with 9:12 left in the third quarter as she teed up a shot from a pass at the top of the arc and put it by Griffin goalie
Abi Kennedy.
Kennedy and the defense stood tall, as the goalie finished with seven saves after seeing 11 shots (7 SOG). Gwynedd was limited to four shots and just four corners on the day.
Allison Campbell had two of the four shots for GMercyU, along with
Erika Cimino and
Ryan Murray.
Lori Berry made four stops for the Wolverines who head to the AEC Final for the second year in a row.
The Griffins will look for a possible ECAC Tournament bid to continue postseason play. Pairings will be announced on Monday, November 11th with play beginning on November 13th.
