GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Griffins opened their tenth annual Gwynedd Mercy Tip-Off Tournament, posing four players in double figures while forcing a total of 40 turnovers in a 103-73 win over Pitt-Bradford for their first victory of the season.
The Griffins will face Scranton tomorrow in the championship game at 2 p.m. The Royals pulled away from Ursinus, 75-64, in Friday's other game. The Panthers and Bears will meet in the consolation game at noon.
Rookie
Haley Crossley came off the bench to net a game-high 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting.
Tamia Wessels contributed 15 points with
Denise Sacco totaling 13.
Chyanne Fine posted a double double, totaling 11 points and 10 boards.
Jenna Hicks led the Panthers with 18 points and 15 rebounds but the team was plagued with turnovers in which the Griffins converted into 35 points.
The team led by six after the first quarter, then outscored Bradford by eight in the second to hold a 52-38 lead at the break and not look back in locking up win number one on the year.
