GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Griffin Women's Soccer Team suffered a 1-0 defeat to Penn State-Abington in the home opener for Gwynedd Mercy Tuesday evening.
Despite having just five shots in the game, Abington scored the lone goal of the game in the first half, coming in the 23rd minute as Christina Kane tallied for the game's only score. The Lions registered four shots in the stanza compared to GMercyU's seven. Penn State goalie Samantha Friend came up with five saves in the first half and six in the second to prevent Gwynedd's sharp shooters from scoring.
The Griffins would total 15 shots on the night, and had their best chance with about six minutes left in the game. A blast from
Victoria Braeunle was met with an impressive diving save from Friend to keep Gwynedd off the board..

The Griffins (0-4-1) are back at home this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. against Mount St. Vincent, kicking off a five-game homestand.
