NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- Mount St. Mary soured the season opener for Gwynedd Mercy as the Griffins fell, 2-0, Friday afternoon.
The Knights netted both of their goals in the first half as the Griffins had to play catch up in the second.
Goalie
Kace Peters recorded five stops and got some help in the second to keep it a two-goal contest. On a corner kick, MSM's Christopher Maggi was able to get one past Peters, but
Brian O'Driscoll was able to clear out the attempt.
Later in the second in the 60th minute, GMercyU looked to get on the board off a corner kick but a header from
Ray Ricci was stopped by the Knights' Jakup Myrtja.
The Griffins (0-1) will have their home opener on Tuesday, September 4th when they welcome Penn State-Brandywine at 6 p.m.
