GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy dropped their official home opener on Thursday afternoon to visiting Immaculata University 10-4 in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
After a hectic stretch of inclement weather, reschedules and the like, the team played on its own field for the first time this season.
Ryan Keen and
Nick Mulvey each collected a pair of hits for the home team. Keen, Mulvey,
Bobby Heck and
Josh Lopez each added an RBI.
The Mighty Macs collected 14 hits on the afternoon and capitalized on six Griffin miscues. Immaculata scored a pair of runs each of the first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Lopez's home run in the second, a solo shot, was his third of the season. Mulvey would score
Dave Tatoian with a two out-double in the sixth. Keen would plate
Sachael Sciarretta in the seventh with a one out single while Heck would drive in
Matt Carter in the ninth but it wasn't enough as the Macs held on for the 10-4 victory.
The Griffins look to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Marywood University for a pair of CSAC games starting a 12 p.m.
