GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Women's Lacrosse Team opened their 2018 schedule on Wednesday afternoon, but were on the wrong side of a 24-7 score to King's.
Lauren Mitros and
Victoria Braeunle each had three goals and five draw controls for the Griffins. Braeunle and
Tara Pellegrino were tops on the groundball column with three apiece.
Kendra McCoy and Anastasia Araviakis scored five goals apiece for the Monarchs, as the team's first meeting since the 2015 season. King's opened up a one-goal game in the latter stages of the first half, scoring six-straight to help them to a 11-5 advantage at the break.
The scoring continued in the second, as McCoy and Araviakis scoring in a five-goal spurt, putting the Griffins in a double-digit deficit.
Freshman goalie
Nicole Wood recorded seven saves in goal in her first career start. Orla Cottell made six stops for King's.
Gwynedd Mercy welcomes Goucher this Saturday in a 4 p.m. start.
