BETHLEHEM, PA. -- Moravian handed Gwynedd Mercy a 72-65 defeat Saturday afternoon in a non-conference tilt.
Susan Bossler led the Griffins with 18 points.
Shannon Carroll posted her first career double-double with 10 points and a personal best 10 rebounds, but Gwynedd had trouble regaining their footing after a challenging first quarter.
Karlie Brogan paced the Greyhounds with a game-high 22 points. Teammate Nadine Ewald added 20.
GMercyU shot just 2-for-12 and had nine total turnovers in the first 10 minutes in which Moravian built a 25-4 lead. After Ewald's field goal early in the second to give the Greyhounds their largest lead (29-4), Gwynedd rallied behind a 19-2 run to pull within eight with just over three minutes in the half. Moravian led 37-25 at the break.
The Griffins hung around in the third and trailed 55-41 heading into the final stanza.
Bossler's three-pointer with 2:01 on the clock pulled Gwynedd to 65-57. A layup off a steal put the Greyhounds up by 11 with 42 ticks left before
Sydney Thompson's triple at the buzzer accounted for the final points of the contest.
Thompson finished with nine points, three rebounds a tied a career high with three blocks.
Chyanne Fine kicked in nine points, six boards, and a pair of blocks.
Gwynedd Mercy returns to action on Saturday at home when they host Alvernia 1 p.m. tipoff.
