GALLOWAY, N.J. -- Gwynedd Mercy powered their way past Stockton, 76-66, Monday night.
Denise Sacco scored a career-best 19 points while
Susan Bossler added 16 and
Chyanne Fine with 15. The Griffins built a 17-point lead midway through the third quarter and held off the Ospreys in the fourth to pick up their snap a three-game skid to Stockton.
Fine hit a pair of free throws to put the wrap on an 11-0 run in the first, giving GMercyU a lead they would not relinquish. In the second quarter,
Sydney Thompson scored five points of a 7-0 spurt to close the half, helping the Griffins take a 37-23 lead at the break.
A three from Sacco early in the third gave Gwynedd a 42-25 edge. Stockton would get the led down to 52-43 heading into the final frame.
Emily Donzanti hit a jumper with 2:16 left, capping a 7-0 Osprey run to get within 68-61. A three from Natalie Miller pulled Stockton within six with under a minute to play. Gwynedd was able to ice the game at the free-throw line, going 6-for-6 at the stripe.
Donzati finished with 20 points. Teammate April Peterson totaled 21 points and 19 rebounds, both game highs for the Ospreys.
Bossler pulled down eight boards while Thompson snared seven.
The Griffins get right back at it on Wednesday when they host Penn State-Harrisburg in a special start time of 5 p.m.
