GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy put together a comeback for the ages, erasing a 22-point deficit at halftime to rally and defeat Keystone, 69-65, for their first win of the season Friday night in the first game of the host's tip-off tournament.
The Griffins will now face Salisbury, who used a big fourth quarter to defeat Albright, in the championship game tomorrow at 2 p.m. The Giants and Lions will square off in the consolation game at noon.
Olivia Roseman led GMercyU with 15 points and nine boards.
Shannon Carroll added 14 points and seven boards, both career highs, off the bench.
Susan Bossler also reached double-figure scoring with 10.
Of Keystone's 15 first-half field goals, seven were the three-point variety. They would use a 15-0 run to close out the first quarter for a 26-13 lead. In the second, GMercyU could not get out of neutral as the Giants built a 45-23 advantage at the break.
In the third quarter, the tides turned profusely as Keystone missed all 17 shots attempted in the frame, getting their only points on two free throws. The Griffins used this momentum to get within 47-43 heading into the fourth.
A huge three from Bossler with seven minutes in the game finally gave Gwynedd the lead as it was part of a 12-1 spurt which turned the tide for good.
Mady Moro led four players double digits for the Giants (1-2), totaling 13 points and 13 caroms. Teammate Khaliah Gordon also contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
