GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy scored twice in the second half to earn their first win of the season, in a 2-0 victory over Delaware Valley,
Victoria Braeunle had a goal and an assist while goalie
Kailey Hopkins made five saves to earn the clean sheet.
Meghan Petroski also scored a goal for GM.
After a first half that saw just four shots total and the teams battle in the rain, Petroski found paydirt in the 58th minute, as she beautifully headed in a corner kick from Braeunle, off the left post and in. The goal gave Petroski her 93rd career point, as she closes in on 100 to become the fourth player in program history to do so.
Braeunle used some magic at the 15:21 mark to produce a pretty goal to take a two-score lead. Taking another corner, she was able to bend her cross over goalie Haley Young and into the far side of the net for her first collegiate goal.
DelVal scrounged up seven of their eight shots in the second, but Hopkins was up to the task, making four saves in the stanza, including a pair with under five minutes left in the contest.
Young finished with three saves for the Aggies (0-2).
Gwynedd Mercy (1-2) returns to action on Saturday when they welcome John Jay for another non-conference tilt starting at noon.
