GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Visiting Mount Saint Mary spoiled the season opener on Friday, as Gwynedd Mercy fell, 3-1, to the Knights.
Tyler Blair netted the lone score for the Griffins, who tried to climb out of a hole. After a scoreless 40 minutes of action, the Knights got on the board first when Joey Dolan one-touched a short cross past GM keeper
Ryan Oyola.
It stayed that way into the second half but a pair of goals, each coming less than a minute apart, would make the climb back up a lot steeper.
With less than five minutes to play, Blair would score his first collegiate goal as he knocked home a rebound off a shot from
Cole Smith. The second half saw the Griffins put together some scoring chances, recording six of their seven shots in the stanza.
Oyola finished the game with four saves.
Kace Peters entered with just over 20 minutes in the game and recorded two stops, one diving stab off a sharp header in the box.
Gwynedd Mercy gets right back at it tomorrow with a game at Penn State-Abington starting at 4 p.m.
