IMMACULATA, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy had their eight-game win streak come to an end after falling 10-3 at Immaculata on Friday in the first game of a weekend series.
The Griffins hadn't lost since April 10th, rattling off six conference wins in that stretch, along with an upset of a nationally-ranked team on Monday.
Friday's game saw GMercyU get out of the gates in the very first at-bat, as
Jason Mulvey led off the game with a homerun to right. The Mighty Macs countered with two in their first hacks, reclaiming a 2-1 lead.
In the third, Immaculata used a six-run frame to chase out starter Mike DiIanni. The six runs came on just four hits but two Gwynedd errors.
Iziah Trimble singled home
Nick Mulvey with a two-out RBI in the fourth while
Shaughn Wright added an RBI single in the fifth to account for the Griffin scoring.
Ryan Keen went 2-for-4 while
Nick Mulvey was 1-for-4 with a stolen base.
R.J. Boyle came on in relief for Di Ianni and went the rest of the way, striking out a season-high seven while allowing just two earned runs on six hits.
Howie Kalamets was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI's and run scored for IU (21-6, 14-2 CSAC).
The two teams will meet here tomorrow in a doubleheader starting at noon.
