GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- DeSales edged out Gwynedd Mercy, 15-10, on Wednesday as the Griffins had just one goal in the final 14:27 of the game in a one-goal contest.
Tied at 9-9 with 17:51 left in the game, the Griffins were outscored, 6-1, over that span. Gwynedd, however, did battle back from an early 5-1 deficit and tied the game up at 7-7 going into halftime.
Rookie
Samantha Brown had a nice day, totaling four goals, three draws, three caused turnovers, and two groundballs.
Lauren Mitros and
Carrie Kilgore each had three scores and an assist.
Kelly Meade totaled five points on four goals and an assist for the Bulldogs, who captured their first program victory as the team is in its first year of NCAA competition. Teammate Danielle Burke had three goals and three assists. Meade also added four groundballs, four draws, and three caused turnovers.
Mitros' goal at the 24:34 mark of the second half gave GMercyU its last lead, as DeSales scored three-straight over a 10-minute span. Brown got it to 11-10 later, but it would be the last goal for the squad on the day.

Bria Gillard totaled nine saves while DSU netminder Lori King had five.
The team resumes action on Saturday when they travel to Wilkes.
