ASTON, PA. -- In a rescheduled doubleheader, Moravian took a pair from Gwynedd Mercy on Tuesday, notching a 9-0 decision in game one and a 7-0 score in game two. It was their first action in 11 days due to the inclement weather. The games were played at the Maple Zone Sports Complex in Aston.
In game one, the Griffins (4-6) were held to one hit from Greyhound starter Josie Novak, who struck out 11 batters and had a no-hitter going until the fifth when
Lauren Waller singled. After crossing a run in the first, Moravian plated four in the second and four more in the fourth. Starter
Jenna Trythall suffered the loss in the first game.
Game two saw Moravian's Amanda Carisone limit GMercyU to three hits and one walk. Trythall,
Nikki Canfield, and
Jessica Behr each had a hit.
Alexis Gartner, who also reached on a walk, was charged with the loss.
Lizzie Deutch had three RBI's and teammate Abby Jefferies added three hits in the nightcap.
Gwynedd Mercy plays at Widener on Friday before hosting Clarks Summit on Saturday in their CSAC opener and Catholic on Sunday in non-conference action.
