HUNTINGDON, PA. -- Bianca Adams was named to the all-tournament team of the 2017 Juniata College Holiday Classic, but the Griffins lost in the consolation game to St. Lawrence, 67-46, Saturday afternoon in their final game of the 2017 calendar year.

Adams led the Griffins (5-5) with 10 points and three assists while Denise Sacco chipped in six points. Sydney Thompson kicked in five points, three rebounds, and a steal.

Gwynedd opened up the contest with a quick 5-0 lead thanks to a bucket from Julianna Hoisington and a three from Susan Bossler. However, the Saints used a run of their own, a 6-0 spurt to close out the first quarter to lead, 16-12. After getting within three (24-21) late in the second, SLU scored the next five points to close out the half, including a three from Jenny Scudder to put Gwynedd in a 29-21 deficit at the break.

A 9-0 run in the third from the Saints saw their lead grow to double digits as SLU shot 61% in the frame and then go 53% in the fourth.

Scudder finished with nine points for St. Lawrence (5-4), out of the Liberty League. Teammate Katie Gallagher netted 14 and Amanda Pugliese added 10 for SLU.

GMercyU will kick off play in the New Year next week when they host Rosemont on Wednesday, January 3rd in their first home conference game of the year.
