GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. --
Cole Smith made his first career goal count in a big way, coming with 3:41 left in regulation to break a 1-1 tie as Gwynedd Mercy opened its CSAC slate with a 2-1 win over Rosemont Saturday afternoon.
The Griffins (5-4, 1-0 CSAC) would get on the board first, just 11:09 into the contest as
Danny Saba netted his team-leading sixth goal and third in the last four games.
Rosemont would counter less than 10 minutes later as Emre Kasik tied it up at 1-1. The teams would remain deadlocked going into the half.
Gwynedd's defense limited the Ravens to just one second-half shot. Goalie
Ryan Oyola kept Rosemont scoreless into the latter stages of the stanza before Smith would net the game-winner with an assist from
Tim Dailey.
Oyola recorded two saves while Rosemont's Zach Bowe made four.
GMercyU will resume action on Tuesday when they head to Lancaster Bible.
