GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University baseball team fell to Keystone College, 11-4,
on Wednesday in the team's series finale. The Giants scored four runs in the 7th to pull away from an early 5-3 lead after the fifth inning.
After a sacrifice fly in the first inning to give Keystone a 1-0 lead, the Griffins answered back in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single from
Dave Tatoian to score
Christian Carmolingo who doubled in his first at bat.
The Giants took a 4-1 lead in the third highlighted by a two run double from Brandon Eady, who would later score on a wild pitch from third. Gwynedd was able to respond again with a pair in the home half of the inning with a Tatoian double to score
Jason Mulvey.
Beau Fleming would follow Tatoian with an RBI single.
Keystone would add a run in the fifth and then score six runs over the final three innings. The key blow was a three-run home run from Chris Triano in that seventh.
The Griffins would score a run in the ninth on a
Nick Mulvey RBI single to score Fleming to account for the final tally.
Zach Dennis worked five innings on the mound, taking the decision. Tatoian (2 RBI's) and Fleming (RBI) each finished 2-for-4 at the plate.
The Griffins return back to action
on Friday when they travel to Neumann University in CSAC action. First pitch is scheduled for
3 p.m.
