Women's Hoops Keeps Gators In Check

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Griffins got their second CSAC win in a row in an 80-49 win over Notre Dame of Maryland on Saturday at The Griffin Complex.

Charlotte Kucowski led all scorers with 26 points and added 12 rebounds for her fourth-straight game with 20 or more points. The balanced attack also saw eight different players record a three-pointer in the win.

Gwynedd started off strong, outscoring the Gators, 21-4. Many of the points came off of turnovers.  The Griffins played excellent defense coming up with 12 steals overall.  Throughout the game, they continued to disrupt Notre Dame's offense to win the ball and score 16 points off turnovers alone.  The lead would swell to 56-12 at the half.

The Gators came out strong after halftime, outscoring the Griffins, 22-15 in the third quarter, but it would prove to be no match for GMercyU.

Zaria Commer led the Gators (2-4, 1-1 CSAC) with 13 points and nine rebounds.  Dania Taylor added 12 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals, followed by Shelby Cochran who had nine points.

For the game, the team shot just under 40% (31-of-78) with 10 three-pointers made. Gwynedd held a decisive 53-32 rebounding advantage. 10 players would grab at least three or more boards in the contest.

The Griffins take on DeSales this Monday at 7 p.m. in Center Valley.
