CHESTERTOWN, MD. -- Washington College snapped Gwynedd Mercy's four-game winning streak as the Griffins fell 1-0 Wednesday evening.
The Shorewomen, out of the Centennial Conference, scored 8:09 into the contest on a goal from Natalie Theriault for the 1-0 lead. GMercyU was outshot, 7-0, in the first 35 minutes, but behind three saves from goalie
Samantha Soscia, the Griffin Defense kept the score the same heading into the half.
The defense withstood six second-half corners from Washington to keep things close. Gwynedd would get one of their own with 12 seconds remaining in overtime. A shot off the corner from
Melissa Russo was turned away from goalie Morgan Domanico as time expired.
Domanico ended the night with one save officially.
Sarah Crane entered the game after the half and would total five stops.
Gwynedd Mercy looks to rebound on Saturday when they head down to Notre Dame of Maryland in a CSAC matchup.
