Track & Field Teams Shine At Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, PA. -- Several Griffins bettered their personal records and season highs at the Susquehanna University Invitational on Saturday, featuring some tough competition from Division III and Division II programs. There was no team scoring at the event.
 
Senior AnaLee Rodriguez (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) finished 17th out of 47 in the shot put with a throw of 10.41 meters (34'2"), a season best for her.
 
In the 60 meter dash, junior Zakiyyah Richardson (Morrisville, Pa./Pennsbury) finished third in the preliminaries out of 59 runners with a time of 7.90 and came back to place second overall in the finals in a time of 7.79, a season best. The mark moved her up two spots in the national rankings to ninth in the country in the event. She would also capture third in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 26.54. Sophomore Cierra Adkins (Philadelphia, Pa./Hallahan) was 20th overall in the same event (27.69), her second-best effort this season.
 
Freshman Emily Makara (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) finished with a season best of 5:47.20s placing 29th out of 52 in the one mile run.
 
In the 800 meters, senior Christina Smith (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) finished eighth overall out of 70 runners with a time of 2:21.08, her second fastest time of the year. She remains ranked 66th in the country.
 
On the men's side, senior Chris Selke (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) finished tenth out of 34 participants, clearing a final mark of 3.95 meters (12'11.5") which is a new PR by 15 cm.
 
Freshman Byron Coleman (Pllymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) finished 5th out of 52 competitors in the high jump with a leap of 6.57 meters (21'6.75"), his second best jump of the season.
 
The 4x200 meter relay team of Chase Toliver (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest), Ben Keliojor (Norristown, Pa./Norristown), Raymond Harris (Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara), and Bobbie Stone (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic) finished fourth overall out of 16 teams with a time of 1:34.45.
 
60HH: Toliver would come in sixth in prelims of the 60 meter hurdles (8.72s) while Stone finished 22nd overall out of 60 runners in the 400 meters with his second best time of the year (53.28s).
 
Harris would win his heat in the 200 meters and finished 14th overall out of 65 runners with a time of 23.69s his second best time this season.
 
Freshman Matt Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) was 13th overall in the one mile run, out of 53 racers with a time of 4:35.13.
 
Both men's and women's teams will lace them back up for Friday's Ramapo College Invitational at the famed NYC Armory.
