COMPLETE RESULTS

LEWISBURG, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy took part in the 17th Annual Bison Open hosted by Bucknell University over the weekend, going up against Division I, II, III competition.

The Griffins had three overall winners as junior Zakiyyah Richardson (Morrisville, Pa./Pennsbury) won the women's 60 meter dash, sophomore Chase Toliver (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) captured the men's 60 meter hurdle race, and freshman Byron Coleman (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) took the long jump title.

The women's team had a great showing as well as the 4x400 meter relay team of senior Christina Smith (Springfield, Pa./Springfield), freshman Sierra Forman (Williamstown, N.J./Palmyra), junior Christine Homont (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert), and freshman Emily Makara (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) won their head with a time of 2:27.99. Richardson easily won her preliminary heat in the 60 meters, and would clock in at 7.90 in the finals.

Smith would also run in the one mile run and finish 15th out of 56 runners in a time of 5:23.80. Makara took 23th in the 800 meters.

The men's side also had a slew of top-notch performances.

In the 60 meter dash, sophomore Ben Keliojor (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) ran a personal-best in the preliminaries in a time of 7.26. He would stop the clock at 7.28 in the finals, good for sixth.

Two Griffins hit personal bests in the 200 meter as freshman Kylil Curry (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) and junior Bobbie Stone (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic) ran well. Curry hit 23.65 in his heat while Stone was 23.39 and would win his preliminary heat.

In the 3000 meters, rookie Matt Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) continues to run really well, finishing third in the second of three heats with a time of 9:04.22.

Toliver clocked in at 8.42 in his 60 meter hurdle prelim, and ended up winning the finals with a time of 8.34, a season best.

Coleman hit a personal record with a final jump of 6.67 meters (21'10.75), nearly breaking the school record.

Senior Chris Selke (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) finished a great heptathlon, totaling 4314 points, which put him fifth overall.

Head coach Kevin Clark continues to like what he sees with his teams. "Our (women's) 4x400 relay team looked impressive. I know they are working hard and will continue to do so. The men turned in some great efforts too. It was a great race for Chase (Toliver) who rebounded from hitting the last hurdle hard, slowing his time, but still turned in a great time. Chris (Selke) was able to step in as a leg of our men's 4x400 team after competing in the seven-event heptathlon, an event he is steadily improving on as well."

The team returns to action on Saturday when they head to Haverford College for the McElligott Invitational.
