GALLOWAY, N.J. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Women's basketball team had their four game winning streak snapped Monday night in a 76-43 loss at Stockton University.
Sophomore
Julianna Hoisington led the Griffins with a team high 10 points. She was the only Griffin to reach double figures. Freshman Marisa Sullian added eight points and five rebounds.
The Griffins (7-2) would trail only by four after the first quarter. Gwynedd would close the opening period on a 5-0 run with an
Alison Szyszko layup and Hoisington three-pointer for a 16-12 score after the frame. Hoisington would score six of her team-high 10 points in the first 10 minutes of action.
Stockton would take control of the game in the second, outscoring the Griffins, 19-6. The Ospreys, who shot 9-of-13 (69%) in the quarter while GMercyU was only 3-of-18, took a 35-18 advantage into halftime.
Gwynedd would start the third, getting on the board first on a
Charlotte Kucowski jumper but Stockton would respond again with a 12-0 run to go on and score 26 points in the period to take a 61-30 lead into the fourth quarter.
Marisa Sullivan led the Griffins with six second half points as the Griffins battled in the fourth holding Stockton to fifteen points.
For the game Stockton shot 30-of-66 (45%) and 4-of-11 from beyond the arc. The Griffins were held to 18-of-67 (26%) and 3-of-17 from three-point range.
Marina Lukianov and Sasha Williams led the Ospreys (6-3) with 13 points. Williams also added 11 rebounds and eight blocked shots.
The Griffins will return back to action when they will participate in the Jamie Lynn Roberts - Fairfield Inn D.C. Holiday Classic hosted by Catholic University on December 28th and 29th. Gwynedd will take on King's on the 28th and the host Cardinals on the 29th.
