BOX SCOREGWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Widener kept Gwynedd Mercy winless on the season in a 6-2 defeat on Saturday.
The Griffins would net the game's first goal on an unassisted tally from sophomore
Matt Saba (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) early on, in the seventh minute. But the Pride answered less than a minute later as Eric Taylor scored the first of his three goals on the day. He would strike again at the 18:56 mark and later two scores from Tori Remondelli put Widener up 4-1 at the break.
Senior
Ryan Roedel (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) registered the other Griffin goal, his first of the season, in the 88th minute.
Gwynedd (0-7) was outshot, 15-5, and made seven total saves in goal, four from
Greg Gengaro (Bloomsbury, N.J./Phillipsburg) and three from
Matt Chilcote (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley).
On Wednesday, the Griffins welcome Arcadia in the third of five-straight home games. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
