BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA.--  DeSales University broke open a close game with two goals early in the second half to silence the Griffins Tuesday night in a 2-0 defeat.

A high intensity first half left both teams even at 0-0 at the break. DeSales outshot the Griffins, 6-2, with five of their shots being on cage. The Griffin attack was unable to hit their mark as the defense fought off a fast paced attack from the Bulldogs. Junior goaltender Greg Gengaro (Bloomsbury, N.J./ Franklin Towne) anchored the Griffin defense making five saves in the half.

An early second half surge put the Bulldogs (3-3-1) ahead, 2-0. At the 39:28 mark, Alex Peek connected with Aaron Povlow for the first goal of the game. Peek's crossing pass deflected off a Griffin defender right to the top of the box where Povlow beat Gengaro.

Peek would then score himself at 36:21 after dribbling a pass from freshmen Alan Smith into the box and snuck a shot under Gengaro.

The Griffins (0-5) had four second-half shots, all of which had a chance to get the GM on the board.

Gengaro totaled seven saves before exiting the game with 32:03 left in the second half. Sophomore Ryan Oyola (Tabernacle, N.J./ Seneca) made two stops to finish out the game.

Gwynedd will look for their first win in front of the home crowd on Saturday at 12 p.m. when they host Widener University.
