2784HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. -- Centenary handed Gwynedd Mercy an exit in the 2014 CSAC Women's Soccer Tournament, as the Griffins fell, 4-0, to the Cyclones in a semifinal matchup on Wednesday.

The third-seeded Griffins advanced after Monday's thrilling 0-0 tie where they won on penalty kicks, but were held scoreless and registered just four shots.

Laura Potter netted the contest's first goal in the 30th minute, but that would be it for the scoring in the half. GM did not register a shot in the game's first 45 minutes compared to the Cyclone's seven.

Centenary would open up the lead with two goals in a span of just over five minutes. Jessica Benoit and Potter would strike in the 58th and 63rd minutes, respectively. Benoit would add her second tally in the 86th minute to account for the scoring.

Griffin goalie Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) turned away five shots while Megan Williams stopped two for the Cyclones (12-6-2).

Gwynedd Mercy closes the 2014 season with a final mark of 11-7-2. The game also capped the team's three seniors: Sara Nance (Lansdowne, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast), Rae Stengel (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee), and Casey Gaughan (Philadelphia, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie). The trio has played in three postseasons, with two semifinal appearances and a CSAC Championship game under their belts.
