BOX SCORE

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy Women's Soccer defeated Immaculata in the regular-season finale on Thursday evening, 3-0, to win their third-straight home game.  With the clean sheet, the Griffins now have five shutouts on the year as well.

In a total team effort, the Griffins got on the board in the first half when a Kerri Petroski (Philadelphia, Pa. / Little Flower) corner kick found the head of Casey Gaughan (Philadelphia, Pa. / Villa Joseph Marie) to put GM up 1-0 at the 38:14 mark.  The goal also marked Gaughan's team-leading 13th tally of the season.

In the second half, Gaughan helped set up the next score, as she played a throw in back to Megan Gifford (North Wales, Pa. / Lansdale Catholic) just outside the eighteen. Gifford would then beat the keeper with her shot in the upper right corner of the goal for the 2-0 lead.  Meghan Petroski (Philadelphia, Pa. / Little Flower) added some insurance when she used her dribble along the end line around an IU defender to beat the keeper with her shot for the third Griffins goal of the night.

Junior Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill West) recorded four saves for her twentieth shutout of her career and fifth this season.

Gwynedd will be the #3 seed for the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament which starts next week.  The Griffins will host the #6 seed, Neumann, Monday night at the GM Athletic Complex at 6 p.m.  Monday's winner will head to the semifinal round on Wednesday with the final on Saturday.
