HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. -- Gwynedd Mercy won their third straight with a big 2-0 CSAC win at Centenary on Wednesday.

Junior goalie Matt Chilcote (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) made six saves for his third career shutout and first this season as the Griffins (6-10, 4-3 CSAC) move closer to a the playoff berth.

Gwynedd went up 1-0 in the 25th minute when junior Neil Brassell (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Father Judge) put in his first career tally as he got a piece of a corner kick for an early lead. GM would trail in shots, 5-2, after the first half but hold a one-goal lead.

Action picked up in the second stanza as a total of four yellow cards were handed out. The Griffins turned the tables, getting off 10 shots to the Cyclone's seven. The teams would finish at 12 shots apiece.

Late in the contest, the Griffins were awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box with less than 10 seconds in regulation. Senior Ryan Roedel (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) stepped in and converted, beating Centenary keeper Jesse Goleman to account for the final score.

Goleman also finished with six stops for the Cyclones (9-5-1, 4-3 CSAC).

The Griffins will look to make it four in a row on Saturday when they welcome Marywood on senior day starting at noon.
